All domestic animals are expected to have been socialized and be non aggressive. If your dog or cat does not get along in close proximity to people, you must list that trait when you are registering your dog with Feathers & Fur Talent Agency. Aggressive animals may still be able to work if a model or actor will not be working with them.
All animals are expected to have foundation training skills and preproduction training will not be paid if the animal needs to learn foundation skills.
Cats – foundation skills include being held and staying in place.
Dogs – foundation skills include sit, down, stand, stay, come, walk on a loose leash.
Horses – halter broke and trained for riding.
The more behaviors dogs and cats know, the more marketable the dog and cat will be. If preproduction pay is available, it will be communicated in writing (email, text, pm) to the animal owner. If payment for preproduction training is communicated, animals must be proficient in the behavior that is to be trained for the production. Failure of the animal to learn the required behavior will negate any agreement for preproduction training.
Basic payment for small trained animals that do not require a trailer for transportation is $40/hour, minimum 2 hours of pay, for the first animal owned by the same person. Fee may be less for an additional animal owned by the same person. If an animal only works 20 minutes, the owner will receive $80. Payment will top out at $200/day, up to a 10 hour day, for the first animal owned by the same person. Fee may be less for an additional animal owned by the same person. Payment is for actual time worked. There is no payment for cancellation of a job prior to an animal showing up on set.
A litter of puppies or a litter of kittens will be considered one animal for the purpose of payment. A small group of untrained animals (chickens, pigeons, bunnies, etc.) will be considered one animal for the purpose of payment. Owner of a litter or group of animals will receive a minimum of $80 and a maximum of $200/day.
Payment for larger animals requiring a trailer for transportation will be negotiated for each job.
Animal owner will receive payment from Feathers & Fur Talent Agency after the production company has paid Feathers & Fur Talent Agency.
